Noahkind Safeguarding Statement

Last updated 10 October 2026 | noahkind.app

Safeguarding is at the heart of Noahkind. It was created by a teaching and safeguarding subject-matter expert, and it is designed to keep young people safe and private, and to point them towards real help when they need it. This statement explains who Noahkind is for, how it keeps people safe, what happens to their information, and what it cannot do.

Who Noahkind is for

Noahkind is for people aged 16 and over in the UK, and is not designed for anyone under 16. Before chat opens, the app asks for the month and year of birth and works out whether the person’s 16th birthday month has ended. It keeps only the answer, never the date itself, and chat does not open until that month has ended. Noahkind cannot verify anyone’s age, and it says so plainly. Help and public information pages stay available without the age check.

If someone directly says in chat that they are under 16, or has entered an age under 16 in their profile, ordinary companion chat stops and they are directed to real help, including Childline and a trusted adult. The app checks explicit self-disclosures, not proof of age, and may not recognise every wording. The submitted conversation is checked before a reply is generated or a message allowance is charged; a declined request clears the device’s passed age-check flag. Real-help contacts remain available, including for someone in immediate danger.

Noahkind is a relationship companion. It is not a mental health service, a counselling service or a crisis service, and it does not replace professional support. It does not diagnose or treat anything, and its replies are not reviewed by professionals.

Noahkind is an AI, not a person in the room. It is good company and honest with people, and some things need someone who can actually be there. The app says so plainly, and tells people that reaching out is not dramatic and is not disloyal to anyone. The three companions (Noahkind, Mate and Crew) have different voices and personalities but share the same values and the same safety measures.

How we keep people safe

  • Crisis response and urgent messages: If someone says they may hurt themselves, feel suicidal or be in immediate danger, Noahkind responds with care and points them to urgent UK support. Emergency messages are limited: a small extra allowance supports urgent conversations after ordinary messages run out without counting towards the ordinary allowance. When the emergency allowance is used up, the real-help contacts stay available. Noahkind is not a replacement for emergency services.
  • Real help page: A page for when a chat is not enough, with people who are trained to help if someone is being hurt or is thinking about hurting themselves.
  • Quick exit: A discreet button at the bottom corner of every page immediately replaces the open tab with BBC Weather and stops Noahkind’s speech. On a computer, pressing Escape twice within half a second does the same.
  • Clear boundaries: Noahkind is a warm emotional sounding board. Medical and legal questions are directed to the right professionals, and red-flag symptoms get an urgent-help nudge.
  • Reporting replies: People can flag a reply they are concerned about. Claudine Carr reads concerns and reported replies sent to hello@noahkind.app and carries out an initial review within 2 working days. This mailbox is not monitored continuously and is not an emergency service; urgent concerns should go to the real-help contacts below.
  • Tested safety wording: The safety wording has been tested across all three companions.

Privacy

  • No sign-up, no tracking cookies: No sign-up is needed to chat, and there are no tracking cookies and no ads.
  • Saved on the person’s own device: Their full chat history, journal, notes and saved people, plus their age check result and anything they chose to tell Noahkind about themselves. A ‘What Noahkind keeps’ page reads this straight from the device each time it opens, so people can see it for themselves.
  • What leaves the device: Each message, and the details someone puts on the ‘about you’ page, travel through Noahkind’s service to the AI provider that writes the reply. They are processed to answer the person, without creating a server-side chat history for Noahkind. The provider may hold them briefly for safety and abuse checks.
  • Device access: Anyone with access to an unlocked device may be able to read the chats saved on it. A passcode helps restrict access within Noahkind; only a salted hash is saved, not the passcode itself. It cannot protect against someone monitoring the device or inspecting its storage.
  • Delete everything: One button deletes every chat, note, detail and contact saved in this browser at once. It cannot be undone, and people are encouraged to use it when they are done if the device is not private. Necessary service and payment records are separate.
  • Subscribers: An email address is stored only so access can be restored on another device. Noahkind also keeps the device, usage and subscription records needed to run the service, including billing country. Stripe handles card details.
  • Data protection: Data-protection questions can be sent to hello@noahkind.app. People can also raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO); the full privacy notice explains their rights.
Read the full privacy notice: what stays on your device, what is sent to write a reply, and the rights you have over it.

What Noahkind cannot do

No sign-up is needed to chat. Noahkind does not routinely monitor conversations (no person reads them, except replies you choose to report, though automated checks look for crisis and under-16 wording) and cannot reliably identify the person chatting or pass concerns to a school, charity or any other organisation. If someone reports a reply, Claudine Carr reads that reply and their note, not the rest of the conversation. It can signpost to help, but it cannot make a referral. Organisations using Noahkind should keep their own safeguarding routes in place alongside it.

Quick exit protects the screen, not the device. It cannot erase browser history or conversations saved on the device, and it replaces only the current page, so earlier Noahkind visits may still appear in the history or when someone presses Back. For more privacy, we suggest using a Private or Incognito window, which usually removes that window’s history and local storage when all its tabs are closed. It cannot hide activity from someone monitoring the device or network.

Concerns and contact

Safeguarding lead: Claudine Carr. Claudine is responsible for safeguarding concerns about Noahkind and personally reads the hello@noahkind.app mailbox.

If you have a safeguarding concern about Noahkind, email hello@noahkind.app. Concerns and reported replies go to the same address and are investigated. If you are worried that a child or young person is at risk of harm, contact your local authority children’s services or the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000, and call 999 in an emergency. Noahkind was created by Claudine, a teaching and safeguarding subject-matter expert.
